Keynote - Designing for Meaningful Participation: UDL in K-12 Computer Science
Tuesday June 16, 2026 8:30am - 9:30am CDT
This presentation explores how Universal Design for Learning (UDL) can support full participation of all learners in K-12 computer science education. As schools expand access to CS, we must move towards meaningful engagement, learning, and belonging for every student. The session will examine how educators can design CS learning experiences that anticipate learner variability, reduce barriers, and create more accessible, flexible, and empowering pathways into computing for students with a wide range of strengths, needs, and identities.

Lunch - AI Student Panel
Tuesday June 16, 2026 12:15pm - 1:15pm CDT
Panel Topic:
Only about 25% of Texas school districts have policies about student AI usage but research tells us that the majority of students are already engaging AI for schoolwork or for personal reasons. As educators think about how to establish guidelines for AI in schools, we should be learning from the kids who know best what they need to build their own AI literacy while developing safe and healthy habits. This panel of students will share their perceptions about AI usage, it’s benefits and drawbacks, along with tips for adults to help students navigate an AI-infused world.

PANELISTS

  1. Addi McCune, Carson HS (Carson City, NV)
  2. Aiden Sanchez, Karen Wagner HS (San Antonio, TX)
  3. Angela Bustos, UTSA (San Antonio, TX)
  4. Ethan Janes, UTSA (San Antonio, TX)
